John & Kirche Wed * Newport Beach * Part Two

I am getting back in the ‘blog swing of things’ after my destination wedding and playing catch up.  I am sure you remember Part One of John & Kirche’s fun-filled Newport Beach wedding. This post picks up towards the end of their fantastic New Orleans’ style parade.  Their reception was filled with 1920′s inspired jazz and blues, a second couple shoot on the docks complete with a yacht salute, made to order chowder, yummy drinks and a whole lot of party.  I made sure to sneak in a couple of my associate photographer’s (and ‘Husband Extraordinaire’ in life) images from the day.  Enjoy!

Back in the City ….

Today is my first day back from Leah and Randy’s gorgeous wedding in Puerto Vallarta.  Here is one photo so you can get a glimpse of how stunning it was there.  For my last two days, I grabbed my assistant and left resort-living for the jungle.  It was magical.  Leah and Randy are off rain-forest canopy touring this week for their honeymoon.  Happy honeymoon!

John & Kirche…Rhode Island…Part One

I am off to Puerto Vallarta in several hours to shoot Leah and Randy’s wedding, but I wanted to post some of John and Kirche’s photos from their June 6th wedding.  This is ‘Part One” of the wedding and I will make sure to follow up with the second half once I get back.  I have looked forward to John and Kirche’s wedding for some time as they kept me updated with all their exciting plans.  They had a fabulous trumpet led parade (in honor of their love and connection to New Orleans) with all their guests from the church to the reception at the Newport Beach Yacht Club.  The streets were packed due to The Chowder Festival and the ‘chowder lovers’ ate up the wedding procession.  The day was full of bed and breakfasts, family heirlooms, 1920′s style jazz, a gorgeous couple, sentiment and good old fashion fun.  Congrats to the newlyweds!

Anniversary…

I make a point to keep my blog about my clients, but since this involves weddings I thought I would share.  Six years ago, I made the best decision of my life.  I am fortunate and blessed to be married to the man of my dreams and my best friend.  To my Hunny, “I love you down to my toes.”  Here’s to many many more!  Happy Anniversary…

I just received an email from Sarah from Classic Bride and, more good news, Cliff and Stephanie’s engagement shoot made it onto InStyle’s Wedding Blog – ‘What’s Hot on the Web’.  By the way, if anyone needs beautiful calligraphy, check out Sarah’s shop here.  She is amazingly talented and sweet as can be.

It has been a good week!

Sean & Jennifer made The Knot…

Good news for Missy Photography.  I am thrilled to announce Sean and Jennifer’s wedding (of last August in Connecticut) made the Real Weddings section of The Knot.  What a treat!  Here is the link.

Jennifer & Sean in Waterford, CT
Jennifer’s bouquet was densely packed with brightly colored orchids, lilies, stephanotis, dahlias, and tulips. Her bolero, handmade by her grandmother from lace Jennifer picked out in New York City’s Garment District, was the perfect finish to her romantic wedding day look.
Staying true to his wedding (and school!) colors, Sean’s unique boutonniere was composed of two orchid blooms in purple and orange, each adorned with a pearlescent lavender pin. The hand-wrapped stems trailed off in a playful curlicue.
The color palette was inspired by Sean’s days at Hobart College. The couple was determined to stick to their bold color scheme -- no pastels allowed! Jennifer’s attendants, in their vibrant orange, shantung silk dresses, were no exception.
The elegant, monochromatic bridesmaid bouquets contained blossoms in every shade (and shape!) of purple under the sun, including hydrangeas, vanda orchids, lisianthus, and bachelor buttons. The stems were wrapped in purple ribbon and glammed up with matching pearlescent pins.
Belle, the younger of the couple’s two pooches, wasn’t about to be left out of the ceremony fun. After proper grooming befitting her best friends’ big day, she was quite a hit during the wedding processional.
The groom’s niece, looking heavenly in a classic white, shantung silk dress with a bright orange sash, walked the couple’s “girls” down the aisle with their color-coordinated leashes. Her floral headpiece, a wreath of baby’s breath dotted with tiny purple flowers and orange ribbons, was perfect for the outdoor summer wedding.
An amphitheater overlooking the Long Island Sound made an intimate setting for the ceremony. The couple adorned the space with a few elegant touches: The benches were covered in white fabric, colorful petals were scattered along the aisle, and a lush garland studded with orange blooms was placed along the balustrade at the front.
The cameo-style table numbers featured white cutouts layered over bright orange card stock.
For the reception, Jennifer and Sean wanted to keep their centerpieces low so they wouldn’t interfere with conversation -- but that didn’t keep them from going over the top with these magnificent arrangements! The luscious, intensely hued arrangements took their cue from the wedding bouquets and featured orange and purple blooms, like vanda orchids, tulips, larkspur, mini calla lilies, pincushion proteas, lisianthus, hydrangeas, and dahlias.
The intricate ivory piping on the buttercream-iced cake was based on the bride’s Belgian veil, which her mother wore at her own wedding. Orange and purple orchids added a touch of whimsy to the tiers, while a porcelain claddagh cake topper crowned the confection.
The bride’s mother used her die-cut machine to make monograms for the koozie favors. The couple chose the favors to help keep the sophisticated wedding relaxed and fun. “I’m from the South and koozies are a must,” says Jennifer.
Another DIY favor was a silver tin filled with Swedish fish, which the bride’s mother embellished with colored circles embossed with a claddagh ring. Since Sean’s family is Irish, the claddagh motif was used throughout the wedding, from the invitations and the favors right down to the groom’s custom wedding ring.
Each guest also received a bottle of hot sauce -- Sean’s favorite. The DIY tags were hand-stamped with the couple’s monogram and claddagh motif.

Jennifer & Sean in Waterford, CT

Jennifer and Sean planned an alfresco wedding outside a mansion in Waterford, Connecticut.

Jennifer and Sean met while hanging out at a mutual friend’s party. After almost three years together, the two decided they were ready to take the next step: They went to New York City’s Diamond District to pick out the essentials, and while her stone was being set, Sean officially asked Jennifer to marry him.

The Bride Jennifer Sapitowicz, 25, administrative coordinator
The Groom Sean McGlynn, 30, senior underwriter in commercial real estate
The Date August 30

Early on in their planning, the couple decided to host a Labor Day weekend celebration, and narrowed their search to Eolia Mansion at Harkness Memorial State Park for its proximity to both the fun-filled Mystic area and their friends and family. The estate’s dramatic outdoor amphitheater was the icing on the cake for their chic but relaxed family-friendly wedding.

Cliff & Stephanie's Engagements * Greenwich Village * June 1, 2009

One of my favorite places to do engagements is Greenwich Village.  Greenwich Village is a magical world of its own, and happily Cliff and Stephanie had their hearts set on shooting here.  Cliff and Stephanie are high school sweethearts and adorably stylish.  They worked so well together in front of the camera just being themselves.  Their mannerisms and deep connection with each other wooed me.  There were so many amazing favorite photos and I couldn’t decide so I posted alot…prepare yourself!

They are going to have a stunning and vintage-inspired wedding in August at Earlystown Manor in Pennsylvania.  I can’t wait!

Adam & Traci…Coney Island…May 31, 2009

I had a gorgeous day with Adam and Traci as we gallivanted around.  I was looking forward to my first Coney Island engagement shoot.  Adam grew up in Coney Island, while Traci is a Southern Belle.  Adam remembers working at his brother’s ice cream shop near the boardwalk as a kid.  How fun!  Within 20 minutes they had hot dogs and ice cream…Coney Island style, and enjoyed a friendly battle at a boardwalk arcade.  There were approximately ten people in this battle of skills and Traci won (much to Adam’s amazement).

These two share a common passion as they have worked for years constructing the heart center affiliated with the New York Presbyterian Hospital.  Their wedding will be held in August at The Yale Club with family and friends coming from all over to join in in the festive occasion.

Chris and Natalia…Central Park…May 22nd

I had the pleasure of meeting Natalia after shooting Jonathan and Navida’s wedding at Rouge Tomate.  Natalia is the fabulous Culinary Nutritionist at this amazing restaurant.  Right after our first meeting, we headed off to the park for an engagement shoot and a crash course in photography.  After years of friendship, she invited Chris to a family dinner and he was hers.  It didn’t hurt that he was a red head…her favorite.  Chris proposed to Natalia in the tiny old town of Rothenburg, Germany, on a cold crisp day in front of a gorgeous middle-aged church.  They had been shopping at the Christmas Market and Chris prepared ahead of time a ring containing his grandmother’s diamond.  Natalia was thrilled and elated.  She got the man of her dreams and they are incredibly in love.  You will see more from them in September when they will wed at The Church of Blessed Sacrament, followed by a reception at Rouge Tomate.

Finally…more on Adam & Sonoko…

As mentioned in the sneak peek, Adam and Sonoko wed on the rainy day of May 3rd, in Irvington, New York.  These two have a special place in my ‘photography heart’.  They have huge loving hearts, tons of energy, and family/friends who adore them.   They had no problem running around in the rain for their couple shots and what resulted was a fun session.  They had a small and joyous affair with a simple ceremony followed by a lovely dinner.  Emily, from SideKick Events, made sure it all went as smooth as can be. Sonoko has a gorgeous smile which you will all get to enjoy in the photos. Welcome home from your road trip honeymoon Adam and Sonoko!
